We all want it-that glow.

This is what you need to know to  elevate your Beauty from Within.

Science and skin care have certainly advanced to enable us to have nice skin (even without clean living, healthy eating and good genetics). But, let's get real.  It is easy to spot someone who comes by radiance naturally. No amount of fancy skin product or the unmentionable procedure can fake the Real Glow.

There are many things that contribute to that lit from within skin. Some are a bit beyond our realm of control.

What we choose to put in our bodies has a direct impact on our skin. Good quality sleep and exercise also work wonders to contribute to beautiful skin. What you do not consume plays a role in the skin as well. Kiss processed sugar goodbye ASAP (stay tuned for our next post on that...) !

The following nutrients & plant based additions are essential for great skin and overall health.

Omega-3 Rich foods

Your body cannot make Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Food (or supplements) must be your primary source.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids lessen blemishes, soften wrinkles and create a softer texture. Omega-3 rich foods make your cell membranes stronger which helps prevent harmful toxins from being absorbed.  These super fats also work to seal in moisture.

ADD Walnuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flaxseeds &micro-algae (spirulina & chlorella).

Vitamin E

This vitamin contributes to smoother skin and fights free radical. It also defends against the sun's damaging rays.

ADD Avocado, almonds, sunflower seeds (also rich in selenium which maintains skin elasticity), spinach.

Vitamin C

The anti-oxidant and free radical fighting properties of vitamin C make a must have for healthy skin and proper immune function. Because this is a water soluble vitamin, it is pretty hard to OD on vitamin C. The extra benefit is Vit-C' s anti-inflammatory properties.

ADD Goji berries, pomegranate, parsley (Yup!!), strawberries, citrus fruits, broccoli, brussel sprouts.

Greens are rich in vitamins B (folate), K, iron and A which oxygenate skin ad protect against DNA damage. Additionally, the high level of chlorophyll works to alkalized the body. So much of what we do daily contributes to an internal acidic environment, so a does of these alkalizing goodies are necessary. But be sure to rotate the type of greens you consume. Variety is key.

ADD Wheatgrass, Spinach, kale, broccoli, chard, dandelion greens... the greener the better.

Even though Algae got a shout out above, it deserves a closer look. Micro-algae is one of the most powerful detoxifiers. Symptoms of a toxic body include blemishes, poor skin quality, and brittle nails. Algae can help with detoxification and regeneration.

Spirulina- complete protein, heavy metal detoxification

Chlorella- this single celled super blood detoxifier, targets the liver, improves gut health

AFA (E3Live)-promotes healing, regeneration and repair of the skin and whole body.

Many are familiar with coconut oil for its topical benefits, but consuming real coconut oil & coconut goodness is also highly beneficial. Similar to Vitamin E, coconut oil's anti-oxidant density ward off wrinkles and can even help to repair damages skin. Additionally, it softens skin, fights bacteria and offers sun protection.   An added bonus is it’s    thyroid balancing and metabolism boosting properties.

ADD Organic, Raw, Unrefined Coconut oil, MCT, Conocut Manna, Coconut Shreds, Fresh Cocnut  Be choosy when it come to the quality.

Vitamin A

The Health properties of Vitamin A and beta-carotene (a type of vitamin A) work to slow the aging process, Vitamin A is very helpful in creating a clear complexion. Vitamin  A rich foods  foods protect against cell damage and reverse skin damage. A deficiency in vitamin A can even cause premature skin damage.
